Athens to Atlanta (A2A) 2011 Notice of Concern
August 19, 2011Athens to Atlanta is an ultra-long distance inline skating event where skates complete one of three distances up to 87-miles from Athens, GA, to Atlanta. TISC’s skaters have been supporters of the event, with some performing very well, including Aaron Arndt claiming a coveted silver plate with his victory in 2007.
Thank you for your support of the Athens to Atlanta Road Skate.
As of this writing we have 52 registrations with less than two months to go. Unfortunately we are not “on track” to cover expenses of the most minimal possible event.
In order to go forward we will need to book 100 registrations (-OR- the equivalent in donations) by end of day, Monday, August 29, 2011. This means we need to roughly double our number of registrations in the next two weeks.
Should we fail to make our registration goal by the date above, we will make an announcement on or about August 30th regarding what we can still do, including possible cancellation of the event.
If you have any plans to skate in A2A 2011, please register as soon as possible, but absolutely no later than August 29th. Due to logistics and the need to begin making non-refundable purchases soon to produce the event, and also in fairness to those who must purchase airfare, we simply cannot wait any later than August 29th.
Mid-August 2011 Newsletter- Poop Patrol, September Start Time Change, Aug. 27th Montreal VRL Grand Prix, Bill Begg Clinic
August 18, 2011Practice Nights Poop Patrol
Those pesky Canada Geese are back leaving behind their poop on the track. If you arrive early enough we would appreciate help in clearing it off the track. We have some children’s sand box toy shovels to scoop up the droppings. These shovels will be placed on the ground beside Wayne’s van for anyone to help with.
See Billy The Exterminator’s Aerial Attack episode ‘Billy and Ricky head to Charlotte, North Carolina where they find out just how vicious geese can be when you mess with their nests. Using only an umbrella for cover, Billy defends himself from a nasty aerial assault by two very angry birds.‘.

Smiles and Falls
August 10, 2011Sometimes skaters will fall at practice.
Not everyone who skates at TISC falls.
For those who do, the majority of their falls involve only a few scratches that heal quickly!
Despite the scars and those who experience a bit more damage, they keep smiling, coming back to skate, and they keep on working hard!

Thanks Leo Frusteri for Hosting TISC Party
August 1, 2011Thank you to Leo Frusteri for lending his photo studio- Studio Blu- so TISC can have a summer party.

TISC Rental to Eastern Seaboard Series (Trexlertown) This Weekend
August 1, 2011Hey TISC skaters. Have we another great deal for you!!
TISC will cover half the cost of a rental & gas for the August 6th Eastern Seaboard Series in Trexlertown, Pennsylvania.
This race series has categories for skaters of all abilities. They usually have good number of participants for each division. Along with the longer race (5km/ 10km/ 15km depending on division), skaters will likely skate a 1km time trial and a relay. Entries will be completed on site once we arrive.
Skaters will leave Toronto on Friday and return on Saturday night.
TISC members not skating in the club’s uniform can take part in this by paying an extra $30.
Once everyone is confirmed for travel, we’ll sort out meeting times on Friday and also book a hotel- most likely a Best Western nearby as it’s clean, close to the venue, and provides a good breakfast. Those who don’t want to stay in the hotel can camp on site at the race venue.
If you’d like to reserve your spot be part of this experience, please contact Peter Doucet or chit chat with him at practice.
