The season’s first RSO Series will take place at the Father Redmond 400-meter track in Etobicoke on Sunday June 13th. The event is open to skaters of all ability levels. Visit the website for more information: RSO Series

There was a good turn-out of skaters for tonight’s practice. With tonight’s tough interval program for skaters in training, a light sprint & relay program for those who are competing this weekend, and a fun and fast program for the younger skaters,  the season is well under way.

TISC skaters roll & win in cold and rain at 2010 Montreal Marathon & Mount Forest 10k

The 2010 Montreal Marathon was held in less-than-ideal freezing conditions!

With snow, wind, rain, and cold, skaters endured challenging conditions for the season’s first marathon.

TISC’s Morgane Echardour won the women’s race ahead of Sarah Hopkins. Hopkins, who used to skate with TISC, now lives in Calgary. On the men’s side, Peter Doucet finished 3rd overall, behind 2010 Olympic Gold medalist Olivier Jean.

Meanwhile, the day before the Montreal Marathon, a hand-full of TISC skaters braved the rain for the Tillium 10k held in Mount Forest. Morgane Echardour collected the win- he first of the weekend- ahead of Paisley Perrie. On the men’s side, Peter Doucet was asssured the victory when Jade Pauley slipped and fell during the two-skater sprint for the win.

Canada Day Marathon entry fee increases May 21st

The Canada Day Marathon & Half Marathon is set to take place on July 1st in Cambridge.

Entry fees for the event will increase on May 21st. Make sure you register early.

May 13th Practice Rained-Out

Today’s practice has been rained out- it’s cancelled.

Hopefully, next week will bring better skating weather!


No Ontario Outdoor Provincial Speed Championships This Year, RSO Series Is On

There will be no Ontario Outdoor Provincial Speed Championships this year. Direct entry to the Canadian Championships is permitted for Ontario skater this year because of no Provincial Championship qualifier.

The Roller Sports Ontario Series is still being held, with the first event taking place in Toronto on the weekend of June 12th & 13th, followed by races in Harriston and Ottawa.


May 11th Practice Rained Out

With the rain starting to fall in Toronto and the weather forecast calling for more rain throughout the day, tonight’s practice is cancelled.

Tonight’s program would have included the following:

  • 20-minute easy warm-up- technical focus in groups
  • 5x 300-meter gradual accelerations (rolling start), 5x 100-meter accelerations (hard, from a rolling start)
  • 3 x 1600-meters (decreasing lap-times)
  • 5x 800-meters (closing 200-meters are fastest)
  • 3x 1600-meters (fast opening 300-meter, maintain hard pace for 3 laps, closing 100-meters are very fast)
  • relays (teams of 3)
  • cool down

Events in Mount Forest & Montreal This Weekend, No skaters to lead trail skate on Hamilton Lake Front Trail in Burlington

There will be no instructor or skater leading this Saturday’s group skate at the Hamilton Beach Trail skate in Hamilton at 8am. [2010 Program Information]

Skaters are still encouraged to meet up for a skate on Saturday morning. Of course, skaters are doing this at their own risk and with no insurance coverage.
