The Board Of Directors has worked hard on plans for the 2012 season venues and practice days.
The 2012 season's Tuesday & Thursday program will kick-off at the 400-meter track in Colonel Samuel Smith Park next to Humber College and Father Redmond School. There is a possible change of venue in the near-future. Please check the website on a regular basis. [More information on the 2012 season]
WHAT TO BRING
When you come to a TISC practice, make sure you bring...
- your skates
- completed registration forms (member or guest)
- a proper fitting helmet (mandatory)
- wrist or palm protection (mandatory)
- a water bottle
- suitable active clothing, dressed for weather
- those under 16 years of age must have elbow and knee protection
WHAT TO EXPECT
The 2011 program will focus on the development of speed, endurance, and health with a focus on the following
- proper skating technique and agility
- fun, joy, and freedom of skating
- safety
- achieving health through active participation
- tactics and strategy
Plans for the 2011 program include
- use of multiple coaches and instructors for delivery of program
- fitness, youth, and racing programs
- using both track and road to prepare skaters for events
Practices will begin with dry-land warm-up lasting about 30-minutes, on-skates technique to develop efficiency, followed by drills, activities, and training geared at developing technique, agility, higher speed, greater endurance, and tactical awareness.
RENTAL SKATES
TISC has a supply of rental racing skates (low boots, carbon fiber shell, big wheels!) available to its members. Cost is $100 for the season, $50 is skates are returned within 1-month of the start of the rental. Please contact Jesse Pauley ahead of time if you'd like to rent skates: tisc.rentals@gmail.com
