Toronto Skaters Claim Top NROC Rankings

Toronto Inline Skating Club members & regulars claimed podium rankings in the NROC, the premier North American marathon & ultra-marathon race series.

NROC, which is run by the popular website Inline Planet, attracted top comptition including past World Championships medalists & Champions.

Strong results were earned notably by Morgane Echardour (1st in Pro Open Women), Peter Doucet (2nd in Pro Open Men), and Morgan Williams (1st in Pro Veteran Men).

2009 TISC Season Comes To An End With Cold & Drizzly Practice

The 2009 TISC season came to an end last night under cold, windy, and drizzly conditions.

The weather didn’t stop a core group of a dozen dedicated skaters to hit the track for a few laps and then to spend time with Candy Wong in celebration of her birthday.

TISC Skaters Set Personal Best Times & Claim Podium At Northshore Inline Marathon, North America’s Biggest Event

Many of TISC’s skaters recently traveled to Duluth, Minnesota to skate in the Northshore Inline Marathon. The annual marathon, which attracts up to 3000 skaters, is North America’s biggest inline skating event and part of the 2009 NROC.

TISC’s star of the event was Sarah Hopkins who finished 3rd place overall in the Pro Women’s race. Hopkins, who recently moved to Calgary for the winter to train for long track speed skating, put together a strong finish to earn her position on the podium.

Other TISC skaters who skated well and placed near the top of their respective categories include Morgan Williams & Scott Pauley.

Pauley set a personal best in the marathon.

TISC Rocks The Ottawa Inline Skating Festival

TISC’s skaters showed up in large numbers and posted very strong results at the recent Ottawa Inline Skating Festival.

Morgane Echardour stood amongst TISC’s best performers, winning the 10km, 21km, and 42km races and collecting top-points for the National Roller Cup.

TISC’s master & grand master skaters, including Scott Pauley, Morgan Williams, Leo Frusteri, and Georg Nikodym, showed great speed & good fitness, mixing it up (and at times dominating) the front of the pack.

TISC skaters carpooled together and showed great team & club spirit at the race.
