A number of TISC’s old-timers came out to cheer on the skaters and enjoy the races. Next year’s Canadian Outdoor Speed Championships will be taking place in Calgary in July 2010. Montreal-area clubs are said to be interested in hosting the Canadian Championships in 2011, which means the event may only return to the Toronto-area in 3 years.

TISC skaters earned numerous podiums finishes and also set records. Adrian Alvarez, Morgane Echardour, Jesse Pauley, and Peter Doucet all set new records.

July 3, 2009

Unofficial result shows that I was 4th in the pro women division with a finishing time of 1:19. This is my fastest finishing time for a marathon to date, even besting my 1:21 effort in Northshore last year.

TISC Skaters Come Out In Big Numbers To Support Canada Day Marathon

July 2, 2009

TISC’s skaters came out in full force to support the Canada Day Marathon in Cambridge. The yearly event, which takes place on July 1st, is organized by Jim Mallard and well supported by TISC with participants, logistics, and volunteers.

The Toronto Inline Skating Club’s orange, blue, and black coulours were zooming on Cambridge’s roads, with skaters on their way to personal-best times as well as podium finishes.

The ever important post-race BBQ was well-received by the participants.

What better way to celebrate Canada’s 142nd birthday by participating in an inline skating event and sharing food and good times with friends.
