TISC was well represented at this weekend’s Roller Sports Ontario Outdoor Speed Championships in Harriston, Ontario.
This year’s event saw dimished attendance, but racing action was no less faster and competitive. In fact, TISC’s Peter Doucet, Morgane Echardour, and Sarah Hopkins were amongst the record setters.
Doucet set the Canadian mark in the 15km elimination race, skating solo in a strong wind, coming in with a time of 25-minutes 35-seconds. Jesse Pauley managed to finish 2nd in the 15km as well as the 10km to claim 2nd overall in the distance as well as the cumulative points.
Sarah Hopkins, who won the overall title, traded leads with Morgane Echardour in the women’s 15km elimination race. The race came down to a sprint in the closing laps, with Hopkins passing Echardour coming out of the final bend with only a few meters between her and the line.
Hopkins and Echardour teamed up with Ottawa’s Dominique Lalonde to set the Canadian women’s relay record.
Jay Brown (Grand Master), Erika Melin (Intermediate), Dragi Dodevski (Intermediate), Travis Shaw (Senior World Class), and Shannon Ford (Intermediate) also claimed podium finishes in their respective categories.
