TISC’s duo of Morgane Echardour and Peter Doucet topped the competition in the 42km race at last weekend’s Marathon Roller de Montreal.
The race, which is part of the NROC series, attracted 200 skaters, including strong support from Toronto-area skaters.
Sarah Hopkins joined Morgane Echardour on the podium with a 2nd place finish. What makes her finish more impressive is that she was battling the flu during her race.
Morgan Williams was poised for a very strong result, but had to drop out of the race after a branch stuck in his wheel & bearing hampered his efforts.
Many TISC skaters finished on the podium in the respective categories.

The Rotary Rib’N’Roll is taking place in Brampton on May 22-23-
On Saturday, teams of rollerbladers compete for the Rib n Roll Corporate Challenge Cup. It’s an hour of skating around the track at Gage Park.
TBN inline skating has kicked off for the 2009 season. These skates are a great way to explore the city, as well as meet and socialize with great people who share your enthusiasm for an active outdoor lifestyle. This year our regular skates will be on Saturday mornings and Thursday evenings.
Saturday morning skates will be at a variety of places both in the GTA and outside of the GTA. Among the out of town venues we’ll be visiting are the scenic, smooth and wide Hamilton Beach Trail, the Ajax waterfront trail and two new short loop courses at Brampton’s Gage Park and Richmond Hill’s Richond Green.
Weeknight skates have been changed to Thursday for this year, with a common central start point in the Cherry Beach area of the Martin Goodman Trail.
We welcome all levels of skaters to come out and join us. You’ll find the skate leaders and regulars are extremely helpful with the advice and patience they lend to the newer skaters. Nobody gets left behind as we will regroup every couple of kilometers and regroup points will be outlined on the route maps distributed prior to skates.

HILL TRAINING- from Andrew Hegarty
With races like the Canada Day Marathon and New York Marathon coming up it becomes more important to include hill training in your week. With this in mind, I am starting (from afar) a training group to meet on Saturday mornings to skate a few hills. If you have skated with Aaron Arndt during one of his road skates in Brampton then you already know the course, but the details are listed below:
Start point: Creditview Public School (at the intersection of King Street and Mississauga road), 13990 Mississauga Road.
Start time: 10am
Practice will consist of the following: Warm-up: Skate south west along King St and follow the road in to Terra Cotta Hill #1 will be at the junction of King St, Winston Churchill and 27th Sideroad–> Skate up Winston Churchill and then back down. Skate back along King St and return to Creditview Public School
Practice: Skate north west along Mississauga Road up to Olde Baseline Road The entire skate along this stretch of road is Hill #2. Skate back down Mississauga Road to Creditview Public SchoolPlease contact Jacky Shu at practice or via email (jackyschu@gmail.com) if you have any questions
Note: Any practice held by TISC skaters outside of the Tues.& Thurs.club nights is not covered by your RSC Insurance – unless specifically stated with a separate RSC Insurance Certificate.
TISC skaters were out in force today at the opening race of the Outdoor RSO Series. The race was held at one of TISC’s two home-tracks, Father Redmond school’s 400-meter track.

A small group of skaters braved today’s wet weather to start in the Trillium 10k in Mount Forest. TISC skaters clocked slower times that previous years because of wet roads and a new course with turns leading out of and back into Mount Forest.

From May to the fall, practice start times will be 6:30pm finishing at 8:30pm beginning. The time will revert back to 6pm on daylight saving in the fall.
