TISC Update- Last Practice, RSO Oct. 12th, & Good Luck Sarah Hopkins

The last practice of TISC’s 2008 season was held earlier today. Now that the official TISC season is finished, some members may continue to meet and skate together at the track at Christ the King school and at other mutually arranged places.

As of today, the RSC Insurance for TISC Club skating practices ends. The RSC Insurance is valid for all official skating events left on the 2008 calendar and for those who will participate in the November to December months of the Scooter’s Indoor Speed Club season that is due to start November 2nd. More on the Scooter’s Indoor Season later.

RSO Points Series Stage 2 (Postponed Event)- the final race of this year’s Roller Sports Ontario Outdoor Speed Series is set for Sunday October 12th. Results from this stage will help determine the final overal & age category results for the 2008 Series.

Good Luck to Sarah Hopkins as she leaves for Calgary and training at the Calgary Oval. Sarah also plans to do some Indoor Inlining with the Calgary Roller Speed Club. She will return to Toronto at the end of March.

TISC Hosts RSO Outdoor Series- Results & Pics

Yesterday, the Toronto Inline Skating Club hosted the 3rd Roller Sports Ontario Outdoor Series race of this season. Special thanks to Wayne Burrett, Gillian Clarke, Alex Perrie, Pam Perrie, and Jacky Shu for helping make the event a success.

The event, which was held under clear skies and in low winds, marked the return to Canadian racing of 4 of the 9 members of the Canadian World Team.

TISC Rocks Duluth (Northshore Inline Marathon)

Early this past Saturday morning, TISC skaters took on the 42km of asphalt that lie between Two Harbours, MN, and Duluth, MN.

Many of our skaters set personal best times and either achieved or smashed their goals on their way to podium and strong finishes in almost every category. You can explore and analyze all the results here.

Candy Wong was one of the skaters who met her goals- read her thoughts- Mission Accomplished.

Track
.  Registration 9.00am. General Warm Up 9.30am. Races 9.45am
to 2.00pm. Hope to see you there.

Final Stage – Sun. Oct. 12th also at Christ the King School Track

in Etobicoke (Toronto). Same times as above.


Thursday Practice Cancelled

As the majority of club members are going to be away this Thursday for Worlds or Duluth (including all of our coaches and executive members), practice this Thursday Sept 11 is cancelled.

TISC Skaters At Worlds- Opening Ceremony

A few TISC skaters are in Gijon, Spain, representing Canada at the World Roller Speed Skating Championships. Racing begins tomorrow September 4th and wraps up on the 12th. You can read some news on Speed Skate World.

This past weekend, many TISC skaters converged with skaters from all around Canada and the USA for the Ottawa Inline Skating Festival. A lot of skaters were able to set personal best times thanks to fast conditions and smooth asphalt.
