Tues – Thurs TISC Practices in Sept begin at 6.00pm and finish
at 8.00pm due to the early evening darkness at this time of year.

Congratulations: to the TISC members who partcipated in the RSO Points Series Races in Harriston last Sunday August 24th. Many got Personal Best Times in their distances. Full results will be emailed out and posted soon. Thank you to all those who attended – your support & participation is sincerely appreciated.

Next RSO Points Series:

  • Sat. Sept. 20th at Christ the King School Track.
  • Registration 9.00am.
  • General Warm Up 9.30am.
  • Races 9.45am to 2.00pm. Hope to see you there.

  1. World Team Ontario Open Clinic participants. To the group of TISC members who were able to support and participate in the one day clinic. The World Team skaters present, really appreciated you being there. The perfect weather was a bonus and everyone enjoyed the programme.
  2. To Alex Perrie & the CITC, Harriston for hosting and running the World Team Open Clinic with all money received being donated to the Ontario members of the World Team.
  3. To Phillip Morris for his donation to the TISC members of the World Team.

RSO Series This Weekend + Make Up Dates & World Team Clinic

World Team Clinic This Saturday: This is a reminder that there is a World Team Clinic for the Ontario members of the 2008 World Team this Saturday August 23rd. This clinic is open to anyone who would like to attend. The clinic is taking place at the CITC in Harriston.

Come for the clinic, pitch a tent and or stay overnight and make a weekend of skating with the RSO Outdoor Points Series Stage 3 the next day.

This clinic will include an early morning road skate on excellent paved roads, skating drills on the new skating pad next to the track, racing technique & strategies, training activities & more. Spinning class and International Videos.

The Ontario members of the 2008 World Team would really appreciate your support in attending this clinic. It is open to everyone. Cost is $45.00. 8:00am registration and 8:30am road skate. RSO Outdoor Series: RSO Outdoor Series Stage #3 is taking place Sunday August 24th at the CITC Banked Track Harriston. Let’s hope the weather will be on our side this time! Since Stage 2 set for the TISC practice venue at Christ the King had to be postponed we hope everything will be set for Stage 3.

The 2007 trophies and awards will be given out at this stage. The Cash Prizes were distributed in October of last year.

Start Times: Registration at 9:00am. General Warm Up at 9:30am.

Races: 9:45am to 2:00pm.

Points Series Make-Up Days:
Saturday September 20: Christ the KIng School – Etobicoke, Toronto
Sunday October 12: Christ the King School – Etobicoke, Toronto.


TISC’s Peter Doucet & Morgane Echardour Skating With World Champ Yann Guyader

TISC’s Peter Doucet and Morgane Echardour have spent the better part of this summer training in Nantes, France. The duo are there to get a head-start on preparations for next months World Roller Speed Skating Championships which kick off September 4th in Gijon, Spain.

Art Of Believing Athlete Exhibit- Tuesday August 12th

In celebration of the Summer Olympic Games, the Jane Roos Gallery is hosting the Art Of Believing Athlete Exhibit, showcasing over a dozen Canadian Olympic athletes’ art pieces.

Tomorrow night, the Art of Believing Athlete Exhibit opens its doors to the public and you’re invited to come out. Your host for this inspiring evening is Olympic Gold Medallist from the Women’s Hockey team, Jennifer Botterill.

Good Luck Coach Andrew Hegarty

Coach Andrew Hegarty is leaving for London, Ontario, to attend Fanshawe. Thank you Andrew for all that you’ve done for TISC and the skaters. 

He wrote a note on his blog in School, Olympics, Skating, saying-

Negative:  No more coaching at TISC.  I’ll be leaving the club as an active coach at the end of the week and I will definitely miss practices and all of the skaters.  This season was such an awesome experience for me as a coach and something that I’ll take with me when I move.


Aaron Visits TISC, Peter & Morgane In Europe, Fundraising Clinic, RSO Series Race Aug 24th

Aaron Arndt Visit- Aaron Arndt made a surprize appearance at last Thursday’s TISC practice. He is making steady healing progress but further surgery will be needed in the near future.

Peter Doucet & Morgane Echardour in Europe- Peter is posting some very interesting items on his website based on the pair’s day to day experiences of inlining etc…. there. Visit www.speedskateworld.com to catch up on their news and much more.

Fundraising Clinic- Saturday August 23rd- Fund Raising Clinic for the Ontario Menbers of the 2008 World Team. Come for the clinic, pitch a tent and or stay overnight and make a weekend of skating with the RSO Speed Series Stage 3 the next day.

This clinic will include an early morning road skate on excellent paved roads (a van will follow to pick up those not wanting to complete either distance), skating drills on the new skating pad next to the track, racing technique & strategies, training activities & some fun stuff too. Spinning class and International Videos.

The Ontario members of the 2008 World Team would really appreciate your support in attending this clinic. It is open to everyone. Cost is $45.00. 8am registration, 8:30am road skate. The clinic should finish around 4pm.

There will be a corn roast and BBQ afterwards!

St Paul Inline Marathon- Sarah Hopkins 3rd

TISC’s Sarah Hopkins finished 3rd in the Pro Women’s race at this past weekend’s St Paul Inline Marathon.

As one of the club’s founders, she helped created a lasting legace for the sport of roller speed skating by creating the logo, recruiting skaters, and helping spur many people’s involvment in inline skating and roller speed skating.
