TISC Practices- Time Change & New Format

April 29, 2008

Please note that from now  until August, our Tuesday/ Thursday practices will begin at 6:30pm.

If you’re coming to practice, remember to bring your wrist guards, water bottles, and appropriate clothing. It was rather chilly during this evening’s practice. It was rather warm for the first 3-weeks + of practices.

You also need to sign-in on the sheet on the table; this makes the powers-that-be very happy and the good-weather-gods shine upon TISC.

Also note that the TISC practice formate has changed. We now do a dry-land warm-up, so that means you need to bring your running shoes.

The first hour of practice includes dry-land warm-up, on skate warm up, and technical drills.

The second hour of practice features speed, endurance, and sprint training- which can also include points race, elimination races, relays, time trials, group races, and team strategy events.

TISC Strikes Gold… Twice In Season Opener

April 15, 2008

Members of the Toronto Inline Skating Club traveled in force to support, attend, and race in this past weekend’s Minto Run For Reach in Ottawa. Many of TISC’s members, who have spent the past season training indoors with the Scooter’s Indoor Speed Club, put down their poly-urethane and posted some competitive times.

TISC skaters claimed the top-spots overall in the women’s race- Sarah Hopkins- and in the men’s race- Peter Doucet. Many of TISC’s skaters also earned age category prizes. TISC Practices

April 3, 2008

We have started our practices at Christ the King Catholic School 200-meter track. The practices are on Tuesdays & Thursdays 6:00 to 8:00pm- 3672 Lakeshore Blvd West, Etobicoke, M8W 1N6

Coming out at this time of the year will allow you to get an early jump on your training, exercising, technique work, and skating. With Toronto’s snow-blanket just about gone, this is the perfect time to log in those good miles in the good company of other skaters.

Please make sure you dress for cold temperatures in this early part of the season! We don’t want anyone freezing out there during practice- it’s no fun when that happens.

Note that helmets and hand or wrist protection compulsory. Also, bring a water bottle- you’ll want to replenish those fluids. Water also available on site. ‘Sign in sheet’ must be signed before you begin skating.

TISC Hotline: 647-831-6384- Messages are usually placed on the hotline one hour before start time if there is a question of cancellation due to weather.

2008 TISC Season Underway

April 3, 2008

We are proud to announce that our 18th season is under way. We held our first TISC outdoor practice of the season yesterday.

Conditions were windy and cold (and even snowy), but that didn’t stop about 10 brave and dedicated souls to attend the first practice.
